Knight of Wands

Image of The Knight of Wands cardWhen a court card shows up in a reading, we need to determine if it represents another person, or an aspect of ourselves, such as how you are acting in the current situation, or a good personality to emulate, to get you to where you would like to go. It can also represent situations, so in the case of a Knight, it may be a journey or a trip of some sort.

The Knights are the movers and shakers of the group. It's been said that the Knights were supposed to be a part of the deck of playing cards, along with the Jacks (Pages), Queens and Kings, but they were always so busy and out on an adventure and were not there to be counted the day they lined everyone up!

The Knight of Wands is the Knight most likely to be out on an adventure just for the sake of having one! This Knight loves to explore. As a member of the Suit of Wands, this guy has fiery energy written all over him. He represents those of the Fire suits, Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. When we combine all of the traits of the fire signs, we see a Knight who may be quick to be the first one out there, blazing a trail and paving the way!

He is a leader, wherever he goes, new ideas and action follow. He could even be on a spiritual quest or a quest for knowledge. Wands (fire) is the suit of rapid energy and Knights are the court card about movement, so when you put these together, the Knight of Wands is definitely a very fast energy!

So what does this mean in a card reading? If this card represents another person, then watch out, he won't be hard to miss! In matters of relationship, this guy is hot hot hot! Passionate is his middle name, just don't expect a commitment. That's not to rule it out, as we are all made up of many qualities, however as a general rule of thumb, they don't stick around for long! There are too many adventures out there calling his name, so enjoy it while it lasts!

It's important to note that we all, male or female, embody all of the 16 different court cards at some point or another in our lives. The Knight of Wands could be your editor, lighting a fire under you and being there to call upon every step of the way to get this project out the door! If this card represents you, it could be telling you that you are hot on something, or need to be, and the shot of B12 this Knight brings will serve you well!

Naturally as a situation, it is developing FAST. Think of a forest fire, it just rips through, hot as heck, taking out anything in its way, and the next second you look, it's gone! This Knight has a competitive and hasty streak, but is generally good-natured. When he appears, he is showing you a situation that is either moving fast, or needs to be. If you are stagnant, he'll get you moving! This Knight is ready for action, he is suited up in his protective armor, and even his horse is raring to go, bucking and jumping. It's time for you to take off!

Much like the sign of Aries associated with this Knight, you may be excited to take off, but lack the follow through. This Knight may start the crusade, but then break off for the next great adventure. Whatever you are beginning, be sure to find the time and energy to create a plan to follow through on it, or at least delegate it to someone (maybe a Taurus?) to see it through. If you do have something that you are working on, then take heart when you see this card, your project will definitely be seeing some action!

Knight of Wands Reversed

Image of The Knight of Wands card reversedIn the reversed Knight of Wands, our bold adventurer has become hot-headed, rash, temperamental, a showoff and prone to leaping before looking. He is taking off too quickly. If this is a person in your life, you may feel like they are oppressing you. This Knight reversed has a very short temper, so there may be arguing and fighting and disagreements. You are not likely going to make any progress, as it is extremely difficult to talk to someone who is hot headed and temperamental. There is no "reasoning" with this Knight, save your argument.

This Knight could also be an adrenaline junkie, rashly taking unnecessary risks, solely for sport. In some cases, this card could indicate that you desperately need to take action and you simply are not. As an obstacle, this card would indicate that you either haven't take any action when you need to, or that you are overzealous and it's hindering you. You should know which one it will be. If this card comes up reversed as a card of advice, it is advising you to SLOW DOWN. You are moving at break-neck speed. There is a line between forward movement or progress, and going overboard.
